Rereading Harry Potter in my thirties hits different this time around. Every decade since the series appeared, I take time and reread Harry Potter. Each time I read it, I notice something different than the last time I read it. I see it as a sign of JK Rowling’s effort in making a vast world for anyone to explore.
In my teens and my twenties, my opinions on the books didn’t change too much. I loved to hate Snape, Malfoy, and Umbridge. And I struggled with picking my favorite book. I go back and forth between Books 3 and 7.
Now? The Umbridge hate is still there. But opinions I had in my teens and twenties changed drastically. Even my list from best to worst changed!
I can’t rant about my opinions of each book in one article. Instead, I’m going to make an article for each Harry Potter book. Now that I’m older and more observant, I developed some hot takes on characters and the books. And I’m curious how many others agree with me and disagree with me. And I’m interested in knowing how many people still love Harry Potter after nearly twenty-five years.
When I publish each new article about Harry Potter, I’ll put the link on this article, too. I’ll also post this article on my articles about each book. This way, I can make it easier for people who want to see my opinions on the Harry Potter series.
No matter what anyone thinks of the books, there is a special place in most people’s hearts for them. Even in my thirties, I have no problem bragging about being a Ravenclaw. I’ll have to get a new Ravenclaw hoodie soon.
